Well, looks like it happened.
Last winter was less than kind: health issues and a tidal wave of family crises pushed me off the map, but summer made up for it in fits and starts. I healed, I drank inhuman amounts of coffee, I learned new things in new kitchens, and in June, I decided to shelve THE METALS TRILOGY for good and turn my attention towards a different (albeit related) project.
The original series has its roots in my many messy thoughts about diaspora, religion, intergenerational trauma, and what it means to come home—thoughts that my skills as a writer had yet to catch up with.
I never said quite what I wanted to say. My visions never hit the page. Now that seven years have passed since the first draft launched, I am beyond excited to have found it in myself to try again.
Cheers to the reboot and cheers to December! The land of the living is good.
